IMS Marine Surveyors & Lab (IMS) is one of Western Canada's largest independent marine surveying and cargo inspection organizations, established in 1992. It serves the world, providing a proven approach to reducing risks, workload, and stress for clients in the highly competitive shipping industry.
Services Offered
IMS provides a comprehensive range of professional consulting, superintendency, inspection, and marine surveying and lab services across Canada and, through affiliates, worldwide. Their services are divided into several key areas:
- Marine Cargo & Break Bulk: Includes Hold/Tank Cleanliness/Condition Surveys, Cargo Pre-Loading Surveys, Damage Surveys, Draft/Bunker Surveys, and Grain Sampling.
- Bulk Liquid Services: Includes Supervision, inspection, sampling, quantity calculation, and testing of bulk liquids, as well as Quality/Quantity Surveys, Loss Control, and Petroleum/By-Products Inspections.
- Liquified Gas Service (LPG/LNG): Includes Quantity Survey (Gauging/Calculation) and Sampling & Analysis (Gas Composition Determination).
- Marine Technical Services: Includes Flag State Surveys, Condition Surveys, Hull and Machinery, Pre-Purchase Surveys, and Hatch Tightness Testing.
- Container Surveys: Includes surveys for Cargo Damage, Cleanliness/Condition, Loading/De-vanning, and IICL & CSC Inspections.
- Analytical Laboratories: Focuses on testing for vegetable oils, fats, biodiesel, meal pellets, feed stuff, and grain. Methods follow international standards like ISO, AOCS, FOSFA, and GAFTA. A new Genetic Lab Division with Real Time PCR test capabilities is also available.
- Other Services: Includes Superintendency and Consultancy, Safety Audits and ISM Consultancy, and providing Expert Witnesses to assist law firms, P&I Clubs, Owners, or other involved parties.
